Once the best tennis players in the world, Roger Federer, will play for Switzerland against Serbia in the first round of the Davis Cup World Group.
Federer arrived today at Belgrade airport with Stanislas Wawrinka, and then continued to Novi Sad where, from January 31st untill February 2nd, will be played Davis cup match of the first round between Serbia and Switzerland.
Federer had earlier announced that he will not play for his country in Davis cup, but since then he has changed his mind and arrived in Serbia. The Swiss team is an absolute favorite, as they have the winner of the Australian Open, Stanislas Wawrinka, and freshly joined Federer, also in good form, while for the Serbian team will not play Novak Djokovic, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki.
Dusan Lajovic, Filip Krajinovic, Ilija Bozoljac and Nenad Zimonjic will play for Serbian Davis cup team.
Federer’s arrival in Serbia and his joining Swiss team has been a surprise for everybody. B92 reported that President of the Tennis Federation of Belgrade, Milan Slavkovic, who seemed to have expected only Wawrinka, approached on the airport to a gentleman in a blue jacket and told him that he resembles Roger Federer, and after that the gentleman took off his cap and said: “Well, I am Roger Federer.”
