The ultra-right “Svoboda” (Liberty) party representative in the Ukrainian parliament warns that if Russia doesn’t tread carefully it will be dealing with a nuclear power.

“We’ll regain our status as a nuclear power and that’ll change the conversation. Ukraine has all the technological means needed to create a nuclear arsenal – which would take us about three to six months,” Svoboda party MP Mikhail Golovko said.

The Ukrainian MP’s nuclear rhetoric is highly counterproductive amid the current turmoil, political and economic analyst Martin Seiff from The Globalist news website said.

“These threats are probably extreme, irresponsible bluff, but it’s very alarming to hear them being made in the first place,” he told RT. “The new government which has now emerged in Kiev and other figures, like this opposition MP, need to act in a responsible manner to earn the deserved respect, trust and cooperation of the international community. That comment is disastrously counterproductive and should be seen as such.”

American geopolitical analyst Eric Draitser takes the comment more seriously, in view of the financial aid the US and EU have been promising the new Ukrainian government.

“The money that we can’t use to feed the poor and the hungry in the United States and in Europe – that money is going to support Nazis in Ukraine with nuclear ambitions, who are looking to destabilize the region, and whose sole goal is the destruction of Russia,” Draitser told RT.

  1. The leaders of the Ukrainian protesters thought that once they had ousted Victor Yanukivich they would have enjoyed a sweet victory. That proves that they were illusionary buffoons clueless about how post-revolutionary aftermaths had settled down in history. Worst yet, by becoming provocative things won’t go their way, as Russia won’t roll over and let them grab Ukraine like a bag and run to Europe as refugees to settle in the European Union (EU) The reason? The protesters represent themselves only – about 100.000
anti- Russian rights wingers. They don’t represent the whole 45 millions of Ukrainians!

Would Ukraine break up like the former Yugoslavia? Nobody can say at this juncture. But if the new self-appointed leaders of Ukraine continue the harsh and polemic anti-Russian rhetoric and provocative statements, they should expect the situation to get worse for them – not better. From what I hear from them up to now, I consider them inept and unrealistic to govern Ukraine. They had better tone down their insults against Russia, and adopt a pragmatic and amicable attitude. Otherwise, they won’t last for long in their chairs of power. Nikos Retsos, retired professor

    • So. you are a supporter of Russian invasion, so say so !!!!!Please, don’t blame ukrainian people for russian invasion !!!

  2. One would think that a former professor would be less willing to swallow Russian propaganda re: the makeup of the protestors. I wonder if you toed the line during the Soviet Era as well…

  3. why dont the ukranian people put it to a referendum if they want to stay as one country or break up with the pro europeans going their way and the pro russians going their way. that way both sides might be happy, as long as they can agree on the split of land and natural resourses. it seems to me from a distance that they dont want to be untied as one country. i visited ukraine 3 times in Odessa and i felt that city was very pro russian and proud of it.

  4. My life partner AROCK and myself would be willing to move to the Ukraine as long as a fascist dictatorship is established. Totalitarianism is moving too slow for our homo tastes.

    • You should consider moving to Belarus. The are already a well-established dictatorship, and the President is quite good looking.

  5. Putin would be wise to not go further than Crimea … I understand he had the right to take that are because Russia’s Fleet is there but if he goes into Ukraine Proper I think he will be playing with fire … Moscow could go up in flames like Hiroshima if Kiev is attacked ; Ukraine has the Nuclear Weapons NOW … they just do not want anyone to know they have them almost 18 active weapons that could be trained on Moscow in 20 minutes if given the order … Putin needs to make a statement that Crimea is as far as he goes to protect Russian Fleet soon . The Euro Zone and USA will put sanctions so heavy on Russia they wont be able to sell sh*t like Iran is now or buy it either … Wake up Putin ; there is no Gold Olympic Medal in Ukraine for you , only death and destruction will follow . Put that on your calendar Vladimir !

  6. Putin is exercising his right to protect Russians in Crimea. They asked for help and so Putin went in to help. The state’s and E.U doesn’t like it because Russia is not apart of E.U nor does Putin wants to be part of it due the E.U economic is going down hill.
