BELGRADE – Transparency Serbia (TS) today said that everything indicates that it is not allowed to show in public a document which would indicate a violation of procedure when making a spatial plan for the project “Belgrade Waterfront”, BETA news agency reported.
TS said it received only part of the answer from the Belgrade Urban Planning Institute when asked for the documents in order to clarify statements that indicate a breach of planning procedures, and that the latest response of the Institute, from February 20, states that “the information requested does not exist” .
TS recalls that the Director of the Urban Institute, Nebojsa Stefanovic, in an interview with “Politika” in October 2014 stated that the development of “a detailed plan of regulation” for the area of the riverside was a starting point of a plan to build “Belgrade Waterfront.”
This plan was developed by potential investor of the project, and “negotiations” were held with representatives of the company, as Stefanovic said at the time.
In response to TS, Urban Institute argues that they have no information about the negotiations with potential investors and that they do not even have a plan for the construction of “Belgrade Waterfront” that was allegedly prepared by Eagle Hills company from Abu Dhabi.
