BELGRADE – Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated on Tuesday that the Serbia-NATO relations should develop on grounds of joint interests embodied in peace and stability in the region.
Serbia does not want to become a member of the NATO, Dacic said at the Strazevica hill in Belgrade suburbs after paying homage to the victims of the NATO bombing which began on this day 16 years ago.
Dacic told reporters that through its cooperation with the Alliance, Serbia wants to use all the benefits of the Serbia-NATO Individual Partnership Plan which is being implemented as of recently.
We have not changed our attitude towards the NATO, and I recently said in the NATO seat that memories of the bombing are painful and that we should base our relations on joint interests and not on love or hatred, Dacic said and added that joint interest in the region lies in ensuring peace and stability.
He underscored that distinction should be made between the wish for membership and the wish for cooperation with the NATO.
