BELGRADE – The National Council for Culture (NSK) warned Friday of the danger of Serbia’s theater life collapsing, stressing that irregular funding rendered normal work of theaters impossible, and calling for starting to draft a law on theaters as soon as possible.

In a release it issued on Friday, the NSK called on the Ministry of Culture and Information to set up a working group to draft a law on theaters as soon as possible,so that Serbia’s theaters could get back on their feet and assume their rightful place in the cultural life of the country.

The NSK warned that a lack of support from the state could lead to stamping out one of the most important and most representative segments of Serbia’s arts and culture.
