BELGRADE – The EU’s criteria and normalization of relations with Pristina – these are the challenges facing Serbia along its path toward the bloc, US Ambassador Michael Kirby noted.
Everyone keeps talking about some new conditions. There are many pages in the Acquis – these are the conditions. Of course, there is also the normalization of relations with Pristina. That is something that will have to happen, but that is not a new condition – people here are fully aware of that, Kirby said in a statement to Tanjug.
Kirby said he was glad that Serbia had finally opened the first two chapters in its EU membership talks, voicing the hope that Chapters 23 and 24 would be opened next year.
The ambassador noted that US-Serbia relations had improved since his taking office.
I think we also see Serbia as a more reliable partner, the ambassador said.
