DOHA – The world’s number one tennis player Novak Djokovic won his first trophy in 2016, the 60th in his career, after he cruised past Rafael Nadal of Spain in the Qatar Open final 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday.

It took Djokovic 73 minutes to finally go into a 24-23 lead against Nadal in their head-to-head score and secure the best possible prelude to the Australia Open.

This is also Djokovic’s biggest triumph over Nadal so far.

The prize fund of the Qatar Open totals USD 1.9 million.
