BELGRADE – The reputation of the Americans abroad is that of a killer nation and a danger to world society; it has practically no allies and those countries who claim to be as such take the US side only in an attempt to exercise some sort of control over their homicidal tendencies, according to the former US ambassador to a number of countries Dan Simpson.

And the US arms industry, he says, is the only beneficiary of this role.

“At home, it sells the guns that are used, virtually without control, to slaughter innocent groups of people, including in churches and schools,” the former US Foreign Service officer elaborated in his article for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

“Our corrupt and conscienceless federal and state legislators lack the courage and brains to stop it. And this is not just about the National Rifle Association; it is also about the arms manufacturers and dealers that finance the NRA so that it can exercise influence in Washington and state capitals.”

And overseas, Simpson added, the Americans are considered killers.

“Other countries can only pray to their chosen god or gods that the United States does not decide to work its will on them, whether it be to impose a form of government we think they should adopt or to cite some supposed wrong they have committed as an excuse to pour bombs down upon them or send drones to kill their leaders.”

The countries that claim to be US allies are doing so only in an attempt to exercise some sort of control over homicidal US tendencies, he added, mostly referring to the British.

“Some countries just want to stay away from us, and, most of all, not to depend on us for anything.”

Simpson cited India as an example: US government and private arms salesmen have worked for years to make India a big client for American weapons.

“India has chosen instead to smile at Americans but to continue to buy its arms from Russia — the Russia led by the notorious Vladimir V. Putin, as opposed to the America led by the adorable Barack H. Obama.”

Could it be that India is aware that American arms are invariably accompanied by American military advisers to train and support their foreign customers, he questioned.

“We should bring our forces home. There will be no peace on Earth until we do. Let us not be killers,” Simpson concluded.

Daniel Howard Simpson is an American former Foreign Service Officer. He was the United States Ambassador to the Central African Republic (1990–92), Special Envoy to Somalia and the United States Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (1995–98) as well as undertaking other overseas assignments in Burundi, South Africa, Zaire (on three separate occasions) Iceland, Lebanon and Bosnia-Herzegovina. He also served as the Deputy Commandant of the United States Army War College and on the Board of directors as the Vice President of the National Defense University for the United States Institute of Peace.

After retirement from the Department of State in 2001, Simpson has been a writer and columnist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Blade as well as a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy.

  1. The American people are not the global problem. Those American officials that are denying Americans their constitutional rights for the post 80 years are the problem, which in turn set off to impose their will on others around the world, just like Great Britain.

Dan is a tyrant himself when he suggests taking away the human right of self defense with a gun. Dan is anti-freedom. It seems more and more guilty and corrupt American government officials and agents are acting out like King George III. How many guilty American officials fear letting go of the innocent wolf they have been holding by the eras (ears)?

Dan would have been targeted by the Sons of Liberty when Americans got rebelled against the global tyrant, Great Britain, and decided to create a free republic, the United States of America. Real American don’t interfere in other nations’ issues.

  2. Glad to hear an American official say this, because America does not have a good reputation wherever it goes, other governments may say yes, but the people do not. They are mostly unwelcome, destructive and overbearing- and that is before they draw weapons and proceed to over-run countries with their unique brand of suppression and leave nothing but hatred behind. They can only get other governments to follow them by promising lucrative deals and huge pay-offs. Clearly can be seen with Tony Blair, if ever there was a blood sucking grave digger, and still, is him, getting fat and rich off the shed blood of his own countrymen. David Cameron is a disciple of Tony Blair and has found pocketing lavish deals and selling his own country bags him post Prime Minister security having already declared before the last election he would not be standing for a third. There are many little American moulded European leaders tongues out ready for the slops off American plates.
