Serbia building modern rail network

BELGRADE – Serbia is building a modern rail network, with the ongoing projects worth nearly EUR 2.5 billion, Transport Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Wednesday when opening an inaugural conference of the South East Europe Strategic Alliance for Rail Innovation (SEESARI).

“The current projects are worth over EUR 1.5 billion, and the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest rail line almost EUR 1 billion, and it is our task to consider the innovations we can apply, “ Mihajlovic told reporters in the building of the public enterprise for rail transport Zeleznice Srbije (Serbian Railways), which is going through an overhaul.

The SEESARI conference, which brought together around 70 participants from 14 countries, is organized by the International Union of Railways (UIC), Zeleznice Srbije, and the Institute of Traffic and Transport Ljubljana.

  1. They need to hire as many Serbian workers and engineers as they can. And the workers should be paid fair wages and on time. Stop shafting Serbian construction workers!
