BELGRADE – Serbia failed to reach quarter-finals at the Women’s European Water Polo Championship in Belgrade, after losing to France 7-6 (2-3, 0-0, 3-1, 2-2) in the fifth round of Group B on Tuesday evening.

In front of the 5,000-strong audience at Belgrade’s Kombak Arena, the French team took a 2-0 lead, but the Serbian team put up remarkable resistance. It was only in the third quarter that the French team managed to cement their victory.

Serbia will play Portugal for the ninth place on January 22.
