BELGRADE – Street of Open Heart, a traditional New Year charity event, kicked off on downtown Belgrade’s Svetogorska Street Friday at noon, with proceeds to go to the soon-to-be-renovated children’s shelter.
Held under the slogan of Let Love Keep Us Warm, the event was opened by Mayor Sinisa Mali, who welcomed Belgraders and guests of the capital, wishing them all the best in 2016 and much health, success and smiles.
“Just like every year, the Street of Open Heart has a humanitarian character. This year, through sales of holiday greeting cards and postcards, we want to collect money for the renovation of the shelter for children from Belgrade streets, who have not had a suitable place to stay in since 1998,” he said.
He thanked all the organisers of this year’s event, which, for the first time ever, also includes Skadarska Street.
