BELGRADE – Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said Friday that the Serbs and Armenians have a lot in common, including the hardships they had gone through, adding that he hoped Armenian President Serge Sargsyan would visit Belgrade by the end of the current year.


Nikolic met on Friday with Kaspar Karampetian, president of the European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy, and Prelate of Armenians in Romania, Bishop Datev Hagopian.

Karampetian thanked Nikolic thanked for the reception, adding that the Serbian president’s personal contribution to the improvement of relations between the two countries was huge.

Bishop Hagopian told President Nikolic that an icon of the Mother of God he had brought as present from His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians was intended for the St. Demetrios Monastery in Bajcetina and was there to remind us all of the closeness and friendship between the two peoples.
