BELGRADE – Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said Monday that, since we are living in a time of double standards in the world, the citizens of Serbia must not stop fighting for truth, justice and democracy, for Serbia and for a fair and democratic Europe and friendship across the globe.
Speaking at a reception he organized at the presidency building on the occasion of Serbian Statehood Day, Nikolic said that our country respected international law and universal principles of human rights, but the time we were living in involved the use of double standards and coming to terms with them.
A question may be asked when the application of double standards will end and for how much longer most of humanity will have to grin and bear it, said Nikolic.
The president said that Serbia had carved out with “the blood of its ancestors” the right to raise the question of why certain rules were applied to some countries and some other rules to Serbia and some other countries.
The reception at the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic of Serbia was attended by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, ministers, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Serbian Armed Forces, religious communities, and cultural and public figures.
