LONDON – Serbia is ready to be a part of a European solution to the migrant issue, be it a closure of borders or a quota system, but Europe must say what a comprehensive, common solution is, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on BBC Newsnight late Wednesday.

Asked what will happen if Germany closes its borders at some point, leading to migrants being stranded in Serbia, Vucic said that Serbia is cooperating closely with Germany and other European countries.

We will comply with a European decision – if they tell us that borders will be closed, we will close our borders, even though I do not think that it is the best solution, Vucic said.

Europe has been unable to find a comprehensive solution to the migrant crisis and, all the time, we have been a country that treated those people in a humane way, said Vucic, who is in London for Thursday’s donor conference for Syria.
