BELGRADE – I doubt that a March 1 closure of borders is possible and I do not believe that anyone would do that at this time, Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment and Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin said Friday.

“We have no such announcements – we are communicating with all countries and all we have are the latest rules set by the Austrian government, which reduce the number of those who may seek asylum in the territory of that state and introduce specific quotas for people who will be transiting through the country,” Vulin, who also heads a working group on the migrant issue, told TV Pink.

“So there is no closure of borders, but there is definitely border control, which has been stepped up significantly,” Vulin said, adding that Serbia seeks a unified EU approach.

Serbia merely insists on being notified timely of any change of policy, he said.
