BELGRADE – Marinko Madzgalj, a Serbian theater, film and television actor, died at the age of 37 in Belgrade Saturday, after battling a serious illness, Belgrade’s Atelje 212 theater said in a release.

Madzgalj was born in Kotor, today’s Montenegro, in 1978, and graduated from a class taught by professor Gordana Maric at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.

He was a permanent member of the Atelje 212 ensemble from 2012, but also played notable roles at the Yugoslav Drama Theater (JDP), National Theatre in Belgrade, Bitef Theater, Theater Slavija, Dadov, Vuk Karadzic Cultural Center and other theaters.

Atelje 212 will observe a minute of silence for the actor later in the evening today.
