BELGRADE — The European Union has agreed with Turkey on main principles of a joint solution to the current refugee crisis, European Commission deputy chief spokeswoman Mina Andreeva said Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel said that European Council President Donald Tusk was expected to work out details of a new migration plan with Turkey before the EU summit on March 17-18.

On Monday, the Turkey-EU summit on migration took place in Brussels. The summit focused on stemming migration flows into the European Union. During the event, the sides discussed cooperation on migration, focusing on a speedy implementation of the EU-Turkey action plan approved in November.
