PORTLAND – Serbian long jumper Ivana Spanovic has won the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in Portland, setting a new national record with a 7.07 m leap.

Spanovic held the lead until the final series, but was beaten to the gold medal by Olympic champion Brittney Reese of the United States, who produced a 7.22 m jump.

Britain’s Lorraine Ugen won the bronze with a 6.93 m leap.
