CACAK – Until March 10-11, there will be no easing of weather conditions or drop in river levels, Predrag Maric, chief of the emergency situations sector of the interior ministry, said on Monday, calling on all services to be on full flood alert.
After touring the most affected sites in Cacak, central Serbia, with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Maric told TV Pink that the Cemernica River had created serious problems in the village of Konjevici, flooding 150 properties, so 52 people had been evacuated from that village and from the town of Lucani.
“The most important thing is that no lives have been lost,“ he underlined.
Maric said that the Bjelica River had overflown in Lucani, flooding 70 facilities, most of them belongong to firms.
“However, we should also keep an eye on big rivers. We expect this cyclone to pass until March 10-11,“ Maric said.
