BELGRADE – The security situation in Serbia is stable, and the police has taken measures to prevent any possibility of attacks in Serbia, Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said Wednesday, stressing that a strategy for the fight against terrorism has been completed and that it would soon be put to vote in the government.

Stefanovic told reporters in Belgrade that the strategy had been drafted in the light of current events and would provide good answers to all challenges.

Stefanovic said that police activity was stepped up at gathering places and critical infrastructure facilities. The Serbian police is taking an active part in the exchange of information with colleagues in Europe in terms of identifying those responsible for the heinous terrorist acts in Brussels and others, potential attackers from various cells operating in Europe, he said.

The events in Brussels are a warning to all security structures, said the minister.

Serbia is willing to cooperate and share all information to keep Serbia a bastion of stability in the region and help keep every other country safe, said Stefanovic.
