WROCLAW – Belgrade managed to beat the Finnish city of Tampere in a meeting of the General Assembly of the European University Sports Association and become the host of the 2020 European University Games after major promotion and lobbying efforts.

Belgrade was named the host after a secret vote which was held in the Polish city of Wroclaw.

The competitions will be organized by the University Sports Federation of Serbia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sport Association of Serbia and the Olympic Association of Serbia.

The European University Games are expected to welcome over 5,000 sportspeople.
