Russian helicopters for Serbian Army ready

BELGRADE – The Serbian Ministry of Defence has announced on its Facebook timeline that new Russian-made MI 17V-5 helicopters – which were also pictured on the page – are ready for the Serbian Armed Forces.

A source at the Ministry of Defence told Tanjug that the acceptance stage will end in early June, after which the helicopters can be expected in Serbia.

During a recent tour of a new hangar at the Batajnica airport, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced the arrival of two new helicopters for early June.

“Deterring anyone from a potential attack against our country is an objective of the Serbian Armed Forces and a task that we must be performing at all times,” Vucic said.

  1. Excellent news, the best helicopters in the world, longest safety record and greatest work horses – only Russian helicopters (albeit Mi8 mainly) the only ones who can withstand Afghan conditions – NATO hired them complete with Russian pilots (there’s irony for you!) Russian gunships absolute treasures. Well done Serbian Army you have chosen wisely.
