BELGRADE – Leader of the Social Democratic Party of Serbia (SDPS) Rasim Ljajic has said he will run in the 2017 presidential race.

“As things are now, I will be a candidate in the presidential elections, so citizens will have their say concerning my performance in various offices,” Ljajic tells the Blic daily.

Asked whether this means he will not be in a next government, he says “does not have any wish or over-high expectation”, adding it is not his decision to make.

Ljajic notes that leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic will decide on the make-up of the new government which will also include the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM), beside the SNS-led list that incorporates the SDPS.
