NEW YORK – An Air Serbia Airbus A330 plane that took off from Belgrade on Thursday morning landed at New York’s John Fitzgerald Kennedy Airport after a nine-and-a-half-hour flight.

It was welcomed with a water cannon salute and a message on the electronic billboard.

Carrying over 250 passengers, the plane took off from the Nikola Tesla Airport at 8 am, marking the official start of direct flights from Belgrade to New York after nearly a quarter of a century.
