BELGRADE – Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic on Friday held a meeting with outgoing Israeli Ambassador Joseph Levy, at which they said major, positive progress had been made recently in the two countries’ bilateral relations.

Levy reiterated Israel stood by its stance of non-recognition of Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence pursuant to Israel’s positions presented to Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic during his official visit to the country in May 2013.

Levy expressed the hope Serbia would join the EU as soon as possible and be in the group of EU member states that maintained a positive relationship with Israel, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
