PARIS – The UK is ready for the opening of Chapter 23 in Serbia’s EU accession talks, the RTS has reported.
The UK has discarded its reservations and is now ready for the opening of the chapter, the television station reported.
Despite announcements that they would be opened by the end of June, which also marked the end of the Dutch EU presidency, chapters 23 and 24 were not opened last Thursday.
The ambassadors of the EU member states discussed the matter, but merely said an intergovernmental conference on the opening of the chapters could not be held due to opposition from Croatia and the UK.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has announced that he would in Paris on Monday discuss with EU officials the failure to open the chapters despite the fact that Serbia had done everything for that to happen.
