BELGRADE – US Vice President Joseph Biden will arrive in Belgrade on Tuesday for meetings with Serbian top officials.

Analysts see the visit as very significant and as a demonstration of support for Serbia’s European path and the reformist course of Aleksandar Vucic’s government.

Biden will be welcomed at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport by Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.

In the afternoon, he will be given a ceremonial welcome by Prime Minister Vucic in the Palace of Serbia.

After a meeting of the Serbian and US delegations and a closed-door meeting between Vucic and Biden, the Serbian prime minister and the US vice president will speak to reporters.

Biden will also speak with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.

According to unofficial sources, Biden will be accompanied for the visit by his wife and a 400 plus-strong delegation.

All necessary security measures will be in place for Biden’s stay in Belgrade, as already seen during his first visit to the Serbian capital in 2009.
