RIO DE JANEIRO – The Serbia men’s national basketball team has won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after a 96-66 (19-15, 33-14, 27-14, 17-23) defeat to the United States in Sunday’s final.

After a good start, Serbia lost control of the game at the end of the first quarter and the United States cruised to a convincing victory.

Nemanja Nedovic and Milan Macvan were the only Serbian players in double digits with 14 and 11 points respectively, while Kevin Durant scored 30 points for the United States.

Spain won the bronze after beating Australia 89-88.

Serbia won a total of eight medals at the Rio Olympics – twice as many as in London.
