RIO DE JANEIRO – The Serbia women’s national basketball team has suffered its third defeat at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after losing 110-84 (31-21, 25-13, 28-27, 26-23) to the United States in a Group B, Round 3 game on Wednesday.

Despite the heavy defeat, the reigning European champions were a worthy opponent to the Americans in the second half, which will give them a lift ahead of the crucial games against China and Senegal in their bid to reach the quarter-finals.

Sonja Petrovic and Jelena Milovanovic led the scoring for Serbia with 15 points each.

Serbia will next face China on Friday.
