BELGRADE – Serbia is watching the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it will not let “anyone take it by surprise,” says Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.

In a statement to the Vecernje novosti daily, Nikolic said he had gathered all relevant security information in the wake of war-mongering messages from Sarajevo.

For now, the National Security Council will not be meeting to discuss political tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that does not mean we are not watching the situation, Nikolic said.

“I have spoken with PM Aleksandar Vucic, officials of certain services, as well as with the Serbian Armed Forces chief of general staff, to whom I presented the need that the armed forces conduct their routine activities with much more attention due to circumstances we have no influence on and a situation that definitely has to do with us,” Nikolic said.
