BELGRADE – Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said for Italian “Republica” that he regrets the fact that he stood by Slobodan Milosevic in the past, and admitted that he made a plenty of mistakes. Now he wants to turn a new page for the sake of “European Serbia”.
“I felt I had to say that I made a mistake. The desire to restart Serbia made me admit my mistakes,” said Vucic.
Prime Minister also commented on the situation in the region, saying that the tension in the Western Balkans are present again, and that it is on the most dangerous level since the end of the wars in the nineties, writes Serbian daily “Kurir”.
He pointed out that he warned German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Mateo Renzi and other officials about the tension.
When asked what provoked the tension, Vucic said that it is provoked by those who are hypocrites.
To the statement that Vladimir Putin supports Bosnian Serbs and that great powers are playing with fire in the Balkans, Vucic said: “Serbia is trying to be sovereign and independent. Neither the US nor the Russian colony. It is not easy, many great powers have interests in the Balkans.”
