ANKARA – Serbia-Turkey relations are vital for regional stability and can help reduce tensions and turn the region toward a common future, Serbian Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic said after meeting with Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara Wednesday.

“The constructive approach and the friendly relations between Turkey and Serbia can have a very stabilising effect on the entire region,” he said.

At the time of the failed coup in Turkey, Serbia demonstrated it is a sincere friend of Turkey, Dacic said.

“On the very evening of the attempted coup on July 15, we voiced our opposition to any attempt of a violent overthrow and backed the democratically elected authorities of Turkey,” he noted.

“We are committed to peace, stability, to seeking common interests in various fields,” said Dacic, adding Cavusoglu and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan were expected to visit Serbia.
