BELGRADE – Serbian FM Ivica Dacic on Thursday ceremonially awarded diplomatic passports to Serbian Olympic medalists in individual events at the London and Rio Games, making them goodwill ambassadors.

The passports were awarded to Davor Stefanek (wrestling), Tijana Bogdanovic (taekwondo), Milenko Zoric and Marko Tomicevic (kayaking) and Milica Mandic (shooting).

“It is a great honor to, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, award you with these diplomatic passports, which you will carry as goodwill ambassadors”, Dacic said at the ceremony.

Dacic stressed that only 27 athletes have been awarded diplomatic passports so far and that approval for issuing such documents is given only for those most worthy.

He explained the passports are valid for five years and that they will enable the athletes to travel to countries Serbian citizens still need entry visas for.
