BELGRADE – The Serbian Prosecutor’s Office for Organised Crime has halted an investigation against Kosovo Police director Nihat Thaci, who was released on Tuesday, Tanjug has learned.
Thaci had been in custody since his September 28 arrest pursuant to an order issued by the High Court in Nis in 2010.
After hearing witnesses who did not identify Thaci as a perpetrator, the Prosecutor’s Office gave up on prosecuting Thaci for terrorism.
Thaci and a group of people had been charged with threatening a Lipljan family in July and December 1999, which led to its decision to move out of Kosovo, but the injured party in the case said Thaci had not been the perpetrator.
Thaci himself also denied any wrongdoing.
