BELGRADE – We are relying on Serbia’s support in the fight against the embargo on Cuba, Cuban Ambassador to Serbia Adela Mayra Ruiz Garcia said Tuesday at a meeting with members of the Serbia-Cuba friendship group in the Serbian parliament.

Cuba has confirmed its position on the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo and its principled position on supporting international law, she said.

She thanked Serbia for voting against the US embargo on Cuba, but said it was still in place, urging Serbian parliamentary and state support for its abolition.

Serbia-Cuba relations are at the highest level, as demonstrated by visits to Cuba by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic, the ambassador said, noting an agreement on inter-parliamentary cooperation had been signed during Gojkovic’s visit.
