ST PETERSBURG – Devastation of cultural monuments in Palmyra, Kosovo-Metohija, Sudan or anywhere else is an attack on the core of human civilisation that belongs to the entire world, irrespective of race, religion or cultural area, Serbian Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljevic said at the 5th International Cultural Forum in St Petersburg on Friday.

Vukosavljevic said his ministry was finalising a 10-year cultural development strategy and a set of laws aimed at protecting and safeguarding cultural heritage.

The laws will include better inspection and stricter fines, as well as improved conservation and rehabilitation methods, he said.

Political or other circumstances will not prevent us from protecting our cultural core, and caring for Serbian cultural monuments in Kosovo-Metohija more – not less – and as much as possible, Vukosavljevic said.
