BELGRADE – The Serbian government is uncompromising in protecting national interests, and the support of compatriots living abroad is immeasurably significant in that process, Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said Tuesday.

Speaking at the 7th congress of the diaspora and Serbs in the region, Dacic cited the example of the No Kosovo Unesco campaign, conducted to counter Pristina’s attempt to join the organisation.

Protecting the rights and interests of Serbian nationals abroad and improving the relations between the diaspora and the motherland is not only a constitutional obligation for Serbia, but also one of its priorities, Dacic added.

Media activities by Serbs living outside Serbia are exceptionally significant at a time when the world is facing a very complex political and economic situation and complex security challenges, he said.
