BELGRADE – Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic presented on Monday the Order of the Serbian Flag of the First Degree to Russian FM Sergey Lavrov, who said he saw this as a testimony and a confirmation that the Serbian friends were attaching particular significance to the foreign policy aspect of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

And we see that Serbian and Russian interests can only gain when we are acting together in the international arena, Lavrov said.

Thanking for the decoration, Lavrov said he was particularly glad to receive the Order from Nikolic, who he said was a particularly good friend of Russia.

With Minister of Labour, Employment and Veteran and Social Affairs Aleksandar Vulin, Lavrov also laid wreaths later in the day at the cemetery of the WWII Liberators of Belgrade and the Monument to the Red Army Soldier.
