BELGRADE – Famous Serbian singer Miodrag Miki Jevremovic died at age 76 from the effects of a stroke, reported Serbian daily “Vecernje Novosti”.

The singer suffered a stroke more than two weeks ago and was transported to the Clinical Center of Serbia.

He left behind daughter Jelena and sons Djordje and Stefan, writes RTS.

Jevremovic was extremely famous in former Yugoslavia in the sixties and seventies, and was known for ballads.

He participated at numerous festivals: “Belgrade Spring”, “Your Hit of the Season” in Sarajevo, and at festivals in Zagreb, Opatija and Split.

He will be remembered by songs “Mama”, “Pijem”, “S kim si sada kada je tuzno vreme”, “Pesnikova gitara”.

Jevremovic cooperated with Mikis Theodorakis and Boris Bizetic, who composed for Jevremovic one his most famous songs – “Ako jednom vidis Mariju”.

He was very popular in Russia along with Djordje Marjanovic and Radmila Karaklajic in the seventies.

He liked chess, he participated in a number of domestic and international tournaments, and once he even drew against world champion Anatoly Karpov.
