Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has called on the EU to immediately approve visa liberalization for citizens of Kosovo.

He told German daily Handelsblatt that this was “the last chance for Brussels to make a positive decision.”

According to Thaci, EU’s “lack of vision for the future of the Balkans” leaves a vacuum in the region that is creating conditions for “anti-European ideologies” to develop.

“I see no vision, nor preparations for plan B in the Balkans,” said Thaci, adding that “for this reason we see the negative consequences for the whole region.”

The deterioration of relations between Pristina and Belgrade is the result of “unjustified delays in the process of integrations in the Balkans – and that is EU’s mistake,” said Thaci.
