US Ambassador in Pristina Greg Delawie has expressly asked Kosovo authorities to suspend the initiative to establish a Kosovo army, Beta reported.
He at the same time warned Kosovo officials of “potential consequences” of carrying on with the process, Tanjug said.
In an interview with the Pristina-based website Insajderi, Delawie refuted statements by Pristina officials that the process was proceeding in full coordination with international partners.
He said that the procedure was “unacceptable,” while repeating that his country is in favor of establishing such an army.
Delawie said that the US “worked for a long time on Kosovo having an army – but through constitutional changes and in consultation with all communities.”
