Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has said he is planning to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and has no intention of asking for permission from EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, to do so.

“I expect a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Tomislav Nicolic’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the coming weeks,” he told a news conference on Friday. “It has never occurred to me to ask for permission from Mogherini or someone else whom I should meet.”

The Serbian premier earlier apologized for the scandal with Mogherini in the Serbian parliament where she was given an icy welcome, and the lawmakers chanted anti-European slogans during her speech.

  1. There’s more potential for Serbian exports to Russia and China as the EU is saturated and Serbian goods wouldn’t be able compete and replace their current ones.
