There is suspicion that Turkish intelligence is behind the statements about the redrawing borders in the Balkans and “the spread of the Greater Albania idea.”

The Belgrade-based newspaper Vecernje Novosti is reporting this, adding that the treats against Serbia that have been arriving from Tirana, Pristina and Presevo in a synchronized manner, have been prepared in Ankara.

The daily said that this information was obtained by “our security structures” – and according to their operational data, “the offensive performance of Turkish intelligence structures goes through Pristina, via two key levers.”

The first channel of communication and influence is achieved through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency in Serbia – TIKA, which is mainly focused on acting in the Raska Disctrict (in the southwest) but is also present in the municipalities in the Presevo valley.

The second are “intensive” meetings between Turkish security officers and Albanian leaders in Presevo and Bujanovac, as well as in Kosovo, according to the daily.

The report goes on to state that “all these operations are carried out through the Turkish intelligence point in Pristina so that their subversive work stays as far away as possible from the eyes of Serbian security services.”

According to Vecernje Novosti, “this information indicates Turkey’s hidden aspiration to create a strong foothold out of a part of the Balkan territory.”

Serbian Prime Minister and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday that the recent statements made by Albanian politicians have been “well coordinated” but that it was unclear whether they have been doing this “by themselves or in coordination with someone else, from our own, or perhaps even from some other continent.”
