“We have not forgotten and will not allow the genocide in Srebrenica to be forgotten,” said Altinok Oz, the head of Istanbul’s Kartal municipality.

According to Sputnik, which quoted Anadolu, Oz spoke during the unveiling of a monument to the Srebrenica victims.

The monument is the work of Georgian artist and sculptor John Gogaberishvili. A photo exhibition dubbed “Peace March” was also opened.

Among those in attendance were acting Turkish parliament speaker Akif Hamzacebi, Ambassador of Bosnia-Herzegovina Bakir Sadovic, and surviving witness to the crime in Srebrenica Hasan Nuhanovic.
