The Albanian police say they have seized at least 16.5 tons of marijuana hidden in the village of Llakatund, some 150 kilometers southwest of Tirana.

The police also confiscated another 700 kilograms of the drug in another village, 50 kilometers west of Tirana.

This year, Albanian authorities seized “significant amounts of marijuana in remote areas,” while they destroyed 2.5 million cannabis plants and confiscated “several tons of the drug” last year, Reuters reported.
