Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic say she will sack retired Admiral Davor Domazet Loso from her Homeland Security Council.

She said the reason was Domazet’s statement that the Croatian infantry could reach Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana in 48 hours, Hina reported on Friday.

Grabar-Kitarovic made the announcement in Malta, where she is attending the Arrailos Group meeting that brings together non-executive presidents of EU member states.

“I respect his war path, but his last statements are completely unacceptable, irresponsible and are inciting the situation among the countries that requires rational and responsible behavior, not incitement of incidents,” Grabar-Kitarovic said.

The Croatian agency recalled in its report that Domazet – commenting on relations with Slovenia and the border dispute between the two states – described the neighboring country as “merely an appendage of Croatia in the geostrategic sense.”

“To this 17-year long blackmail of Croatia, which actually has been going on since the war, once can respond in the only way they understand – and that’s by one octave higher,” he said, adding that “the Croatian infantry could be in Ljubljana in 48 hours.”
