Famous actor Ljubisa Samardzic died in Belgrade at the age of 81 after a serious illness, Belgrade media reported.
He spent almost a month at the hospital treatment at the Clinical Center of Serbia, at the Department of Hematology, because his health condition was extremely bad.
His last appearance in public was on March 30 at the Youth Center at the opening of the 64th March Festival – Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, where his last film “Panta rei” was shown.
Ljubisa Samardzic was born on November 19, 1936 in Skopje, in a family of miners, to later become a prominent name in Yugoslav cinema. From 1960 to the present he has made over 70 film and television roles, collaborated with all Yugoslav directors, and then took over the director’s bat at the end of the nineties.
Three years ago a permanent legate of Ljubisa Samardzic was opened in the Yugoslav Cinema, where his awards, memorabilia from filming, photographs, posters of films and many others are shown.
