One cannot sit on two chairs at the same time, said today in Belgrade a High Representative of the US State Department Bryan Hoyt Yee, explaining that the country, such as Serbia, which wants to become a member of the EU, must send a very clear message, and not to balance between the two sides.
“It is important that country makes a strategic choice, that it should be part of the official policy, as Croatia did when it put EU membership above all or Montenegro in terms of NATO. Values are important, it is important to have deeds stronger that words, to send a clear message”, said Hoyt Jee.
He also said that the way Serbia demonstrates its commitment to European values is important, because the country is “closely monitored by the international community.”
“Balancing messages are not clear messages. It is important for the state not to balance between two sides,” said the official of the US State Department.
