Montenegro’s ruling DPS party wants its leader Milo Djukanovic to be a candidate in the presidential elections in 2018.
The Podgorica-based daily Pobjeda writes that the DPS main board will meet to consider this by the end of the month – and that the mood “at all party levels” is “unanimously” in favor of Djukanovic running.
The newspaper added that in his previous statements. Djukanovic “did not declare himself on whether he would be a candidate” – but at the same time he “on several occasions” did not rule out the possibility, either.
Before stepping down as prime minister in October 2016, Djukanovic had been in power in Montenegro, either as prime minister or as president, since 1991.
