Goalkeeping legend Ilija Pantelic dies

NOVI SAD – Legendary goalkeeper of FC Vojvodina and Yugoslavia national team Ilija Pantelic has died late on Monday in Novi Sad at the age of 72, FC Vojvodina released on its website.

Pantelic started his career with the Bela Crkva FC BAK, before joining Radnicki Sombor, and then Vojvodina, which he helped win the national championship in 1966.

Pantelic had a remarkable international career as well. In the period from 1969 to 1977, he was the goalkeeper for Olympique de Marseille, Bastia and Paris Saint-Germain in France.

He played 18 matches for the national team of Yugoslavia, making his debut on October 25, 1964.
